Data Sources

Every data point published by BigBro Insights comes from one of the official sources listed on this page. This inventory is updated whenever a new source is added or an existing source is changed.

Individual reports also list their specific sources by name in the report's Data Sources section. Read our full methodology →

Election Commission of India

ECI

The constitutional body responsible for administering parliamentary, assembly, and local body elections across India. Publishes official Form 20 result returns for every assembly and parliamentary constituency.

How we use this source

Candidate-level vote totals, winning margins, total votes polled, number of candidates, NOTA votes, and constituency-level voter enrolment figures for Telangana assembly elections (2014, 2018, 2023) and all prior AP elections covering current Telangana constituencies.

How to access

ECI results portal at eci.gov.in and the Voter Helpline portal at voterportal.eci.gov.in. Detailed Form 20 PDFs are accessible under the statistical section for each general election. eci.gov.in

Notes

ECI data for pre-2014 elections covers undivided Andhra Pradesh. BigBro Insights uses the constituency-level breakdowns that correspond to current Telangana seats, noted clearly in each report.

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation

GHMC

The municipal corporation governing the Hyderabad metropolitan area. Publishes official ward election results for all GHMC elections, including the 2020 GHMC general elections.

How we use this source

How to access

GHMC published official results sheets are available via ghmc.gov.in and through the State Election Commission of Telangana. ghmc.gov.in

Notes

GHMC ward boundaries were revised before the 2020 elections. Reports covering multiple GHMC election cycles note boundary changes and their effect on comparability.

Delimitation Commission of India

Delimitation Commission

The statutory commission responsible for redrawing parliamentary and assembly constituency boundaries. Its orders define the legal boundaries of every constituency in India, including all 119 Telangana assembly segments.

How we use this source

Constituency boundary definitions, segment names, area coverage descriptions, parliamentary segment-to-assembly segment mappings, and the official delimitation order references cited in constituency profile reports.

How to access

Delimitation orders are published as gazette notifications. Telangana constituency delimitation orders (based on the Andhra Pradesh delimitation of 2008) are available through the ECI and Ministry of Law and Justice.

Notes

Telangana constituencies follow the Andhra Pradesh Delimitation Order 2008, applicable until a fresh delimitation is conducted. Any post-delimitation constituency changes will be reflected in reports as they occur.

State Election Commission of Telangana

TSEC

The constitutional body responsible for administering panchayat and municipality elections in Telangana. Distinct from ECI, which handles assembly and parliamentary elections.

How we use this source

Municipal and panchayat election results, including mandal parishad and zilla parishad elections, where these are relevant to a research report's scope.

How to access

Results published by TSEC are accessible via tsec.gov.in. Historical panchayat data availability varies by election cycle. tsec.gov.in
